This page shows the notable differences that appear in the First Folio publication of Hamlet as compared to the Second Quarto publication, in Scene 18, with analysis of those differences. These Folio Difference Notes are coordinated with the regular Notes on the Scene page.

For an introduction to this material, see the page About the Folio Differences.

Too slightly timbered for so [loved, armed] {loud a wind},
loved, armed
loud a wind

The First Folio wording is an obvious mistake. No loud wind, or anything like that, has been mentioned. What has been mentioned is "affection," and wood turning to stone, thus becoming "armored." The Second Quarto wording is obviously correct. The First Folio editor must have only guessed at something he could not read on whatever manuscript, or other source, he was checking at the time.
